You knew it was coming ... the Thanksgiving Mantel! There's already been a Valentine's Mantel ... and an Easter Mantel ... a girl's gotta be seasonal about her mantels! And my kids just love this stuff! For my lovely American readers who may be scratching their heads in confusion, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October here.
So, there's Mr. & Mrs. Pilgrim ... who I've had for ages ... can't remember where they are from.
And Mr. Squirrel ... last year he was on my Thanksgiving table ... this year he's migrated to the mantel. I think he was from Bowring.
This bundle of wheat was actually cut from a field on the Canadian prairies several years ago! Turns out dried wheat keeps forever ... who knew?
I was using these jars for candy, but my kids don't seem to understand the concept as decorative candy and wouldn't stay out of it ... so no more candy! Small cobs of Indian corn instead!
And plastic acorns in this jar ... I was hoping to fill it with real acorns, but we seem to have a shortage of oak trees around here. I haven't given up though and am keeping a watch out when I'm walking the dog in the morning.
And the painting above is one that I often end up taking down ... but it seems to suit the mantel this time. It's of antelope on the prairie ... something we used to see every day when we lived in Alberta.
As you can see, my walls are well suited to this time of year. I'll be doing a bit more decorating over the weekend and will share that with you next week. Have a lovely weekend!
